Detailed History on SAE-SCHUNK AUDIO ENGINEERING GmbH & Co. KG

The SAE GmbH & Co. KG is a typical German family run company. The roots of the company date back to the year 1990. Since that time the Schunk family is involved in professional music production, recording and sound reproduction.

Before SAE was founded in 1996, senior president Fritz Schunk for 30 years was the head and owner of the Fritz Schunk GmbH, a world-wide market leading company in the fields of industrial robot- and handling-technology, one of the key suppliers for the automobile industries like Daimler Chrysler, BMW, and Audi etc. with approx. 1000 employees world-wide.

After selling his company (Fritz Schunk GmbH) he founded the SAE - SCHUNK

AUDIO ENGINEERING GmbH & Co. KG together with his sons Martin and Steffen, and made his huge passion for music to the centre of the company philosophy. Of course the SAE GmbH & Co. KG did benefit enormously from the huge production know-how and experience of Fritz Schunk in the fields of high-technology. He is the top decision maker at SAE and additionally supervising the financial part as well as quality-control.

Martin Schunk as a graduated Diploma-Engineer from the technical university of Heilbronn is responsible for the product development, design and production of the ACCUSTIC ARTS High End product line. Since the age of 15 he was designing loudspeakers and cross-overs, this passion and longtime experience can now be found in the ACCUSTIC ARTS series. In co-operation with internal and external audio engineers he is constantly working on the product line and of course new developments for the series. He is the technical president at SAE GmbH & Co. KG.

Steffen Schunk is a graduated Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Stuttgart and a professional music producer. As commercial president at SAE he is responsible for the economic parts including sales and marketing of ACCUSTIC ARTS in currently more than 30 countries world-wide. Since 1990 he is additionally working as a music professional in the fields of music production and recording for international record companies. Together with numerous sound engineers he founded the Evolve Studios in 1995, which became the professional music production and -recording branch of SAE GmbH & Co. KG.

These experiences in recording had a huge influence on the development of the ACCUSTIC ARTS products. The target was to build a product line that is able to reproduce music 100% authentic just like you hear it when it was recorded. The first development in this context have been near field monitors for recording studios. This can be considered as the most sensitive area where loudspeakers are being used.

Using the wrong or a bad nearfield monitor on a mixing console leads to a bad mix and finally to a minor sound quality on the CD etc. In the ACCUSTIC ARTS High End products this professional experience has been combined with maximum musicality and packed in a timeless beautiful design, providing a total system, one that is uniform, well balanced, very attractive and desirable for an incomparable music experience.
